Hey Kevin,
Great work as always. I'm trying to catch up on readings and seeing what I can learn.
I have a question regarding this choice of design. While I know that this gives the user the freedom to choose whether or not they should continue on this route and I know that this is ultimately the choice of the product manager at the end of the day, but why might we give them a choice given the seriousness of the issue?
Roads may be closed but giving them the choice to continue on the path may end up being inconvenient as things change and possibly dangerous?
This is outside the scope of the UX writers and pertains more so to the engineers and product manager(s) but part of me feels that we, as designers of these products, should do our best to ensure the safety of the user as much as possible, right? This may even mean automatically providing them with a safer and possibly faster route to their destination.
